A while ago we attended a webinar hosted by the Roy Dunbar, the CEO of Network Solutions. Mr. Dunbar shared statistics of a recent report based on a survey conducted by Network Solutions and the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. The report stated that small businesses are responsible for over 40 million jobs and $6 trillion in revenues. That is impressive. Small businesses are making a positive impact of the economy.
The survey was conducted with 1000 small businesses and was very enlightening. It captured six dimensions and revealed that small businesses received an A- in Customer Service (very good!), B+ in compliance, however, a D+ in Capital Access. Workforce, Computer Technology, and Marketing & Innovation were C+, C, and C- respectively.
In addition, the survey revealed that Internet Technology based small businesses are more competitive compared to those who use fewer Internet technology. Small businesses with a commitment to Internet solutions are doing 16% better than businesses than those who are not. That’s a great increase for small businesses.
Based on the survey results, many small businesses have not embraced computer technology and need to improve in marketing and innovation. Have you embraced technology in your business? How does your business rate in marketing and innovation? We want to hear what you have to say.
